What you'll do

The Workplace Relations Team sits within the E2E Workforce Solutions Tribe in the Woolworths People Agile model. The Workplace Relations team are responsible for providing strategic advice, guidance and support on workplace relations matters that affect the Woolworths Group as a whole, whole businesses or business units or entire employee cohorts - as opposed to issues affecting individuals or teams, which are supported by the Employee Relations Team

  • Support Woolworths Group businesses or departments to manage industrial issues and transactions that will impact that business or department - such as enterprise bargaining, acquisition or divestiture of businesses or workplace changes that will impact peoples’ employment at Group, business or cohort (not individual) level.
  • Work collaboratively with Group businesses, with the support of a Workplace Relations Partner, to develop practical, fit-for-purpose industrial relations strategies and tactics to support and further business and Group objectives.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to the business around industrial instrument interpretation, industrial instrument implementation and interaction of industrial instruments with other documents, policies and processes.
  • Support with the end-to-end enterprise bargaining process (including planning, negotiating, lodgment and implementation) to ensure high-quality agreements that serve business objectives and fit with Woolworths values.
  • Support and assist with cases and matters before the Fair Work Commission where required, including bargaining disputes, employee relations matters and other industrial disputes.
  • Write, rewrite and update people policies and related documents, aligned to the tone of voice and perspective of the Woolworths Group.

 

What you'll bring

  • Highly desirable - tertiary qualification in Law, Employment Relations, Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • 2+ years experience in employee relations or human resource management, with a general understanding of employment laws and employee relations issues.
  • Very strong writing skills, specifically plain English drafting ability and capacity to translate complex issues into straightforward language.
  • Strong influencing skills, ability to work cross-functionally and rally others around a project or cause.
  • Commercial acumen and an understanding of how workplace relations can impact financial drivers and organisational productivity.
