What you'll do
As a Tech Lead for Woolworths MarketPlus, you will play a critical role in our new organisation's success by leading one of our engineering squads, contributing to strategic direction, and executing plans to achieve the group's goals. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work end to end, including product management, experience, and architecture, to ensure the seamless development and delivery of our marketplace platform.  This role demands exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to foster a culture of creativity and innovation.
This role reports directly to the Head of Engineering for Woolworths MarketPlus.   • Lead software development of our group marketplace platform, driving its growth, scalability, and performance to meet customer and business needs, while maintaining hands-on coding backend and frontend.

  • Manage and lead one or more engineering squads, collaborating with delivery and architecture to ensure high quality. Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and innovative team culture.

  • Engage with stakeholders across banners, architecture, and group IT to ensure alignment with group technology standards.

  • Take ownership of key roadmap priorities and support their implementation.

  • Contribute to tech strategy, ensuring most effective and modern approaches. 

  • Help design new features and solutions expanding WMP suite and scalability. 

 
What you’ll bring

  • Solid development background in .NET stack including C#, ASP.NET Core, and RESTful APIs. Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, domain-driven development, dependency injection and general design patterns. 

  • Proven success in a leadership role within a technology-driven startup or corporate environment.

  • Experience with modern frontend technology, particularly React.

  • Good understanding of developing scalable cloud solutions across one or more major platforms. Key AWS services (EC2, S3, SQS, SNS, ElastiCache, OpenSearch) are advantageous.

  • Strong experience in defining robust integration contracts and automating validation of these.

  • Previously built and scaled microservice based and event driven architectures.

  • Solid understanding of both NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and MongoDB and relational databases.
