System Forecast Analyst

  • Hybrid working available with 2 days a week WFH

  • Role will be based at our Norwest Support Office

What you’ll do
As our BigW System Forecast Analyst you will be responsible for the accuracy of forecasts produced by UDF systems, in addition to the ongoing maintenance and root cause analysis of the inputs/outputs which may span across:  Maintaining and optimising key inputs to the forecast systems, e.g. Event parameters, seasonal profiles and historical sales cleansing; Statistical Algorithm tuning and selection. The forecasts produced by forecasting systems form the basis for supply & network planning as well as store and supplier ordering algorithms.

  • Improve Forecasting Models & Algorithms

  • Determine forecast methodologies to accurately predict weekly and daily sales for all Big W products and stores

  • Monitor performance/accuracy of forecasting system output - develop robust assessment methodologies and mechanisms to record and benchmark forecast performance against expected results

  • Monitor & tune demand models and algorithms ensuring appropriate responsiveness to customer sales behavior both observed and anticipated

  • Gather, extract and manipulate required information to form a fact base for the assessment and modeling of forecast decisions

  • Review existing data & settings changes - model potential changes and identify/quantify improvements 

  • Determine specific abnormalities impacting accuracy and implement remedies in the system

  • Assist Sales & Demand Planning Analysts in finding root cause of forecast inaccuracies by deciphering models to determine how the forecast has been generated 

  • Review and resolution of Sales and Demand System exceptions


What you’ll bring

  • In-depth knowledge of various forecast methodologies

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Experience fine tuning forecasting tools and systems to improve their accuracy

  • Ability to translate difficult technical concepts into simple language
