The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Network Development PC+, the Senior Transport Network Development Manager is a critical role in the strategic planning and optimisation of our transport network to enhance supply chain efficiencies for both Primary Connect and its customers. 

The position aims to deliver a sustainable competitive advantage by cultivating relationships and collaborating with Primary Connect’s carrier and network partners, with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and identification of value creation opportunities. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures the transport network is efficient, cost-effective, adaptable, resilient, and aligned with business goals.


What you’ll do

  • Be responsible for the development and fostering of relationships with Primary Connect+’s transport carrier and network partners, with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and identification of value creation opportunities.

  • Deliver sustainable competitive advantage by working with Primary Connect+’s carrier partners to develop optimised network and transport solutions to improve supply chain efficiencies and costs for our customers

  • Management of network changes and the operational and commercial impacts, such as new DCs or ranging changes that impact Primary Connect+ carriers and corridor flows.

  • Own the strategic ‘engagement model’ for new carriers, based on needs identified within the Primary Connect development pipeline.

  • Position Primary Connect as a knowledge based; technology driven supply chain solutions provider with its current and future customers & carrier partners.

  • Customer Solution Development: Work alongside Business Development & Account Management teams for network development opportunities to support existing & new customers.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Significant years’ experience in a senior transport or supply chain role. Ideally in a FMCG, Retail or 3PL organisation

  • Advanced technical transport knowledge – legislation, equipment design, network flows, pricing, and costing methodologies (Road & Rail)

  • Success in relationship management and stakeholder engagement, collaborating and bringing multiple stakeholders together to align on and execute plans

  • High level of influencing and negotiation skills to agree best possible outcomes
