About the wiqNZ Team
The wiqNZ team exists to unlock the power of data to imagine the future of retail, making Kiwis' lives a little better every day. We work closely with all New Zealand business units and the broader wiq team to deliver impactful insights.
The role as a Senior Technical Business Analyst, you will be the critical bridge between our business stakeholders, Insights Analysts, and Data Engineers. You will work alongside a business-focused team to close the data knowledge gap and accelerate the delivery of analytics transformation outcomes.
This is a hands-on role where you will not only capture requirements but also get involved in prototyping solutions using SQL, Python and GenAI.
What You’ll Do
Innovate & Solution Design: Scope and deliver optimised Group-first solutions and drive NZ-led innovation opportunities, including GenAI prototyping
Bridge the Gap: Act as the translator between business definitions and technical execution, bridging the knowledge gap between Insights Analysts and Data Engineers
Technical Prototyping: Build prototypes using SQL, and Python to validate concepts
Pipeline Development: Work with engineers to define business and data requirements for new pipelines, ensuring data is available in the right production environments within the A&I Data Platform
Quality & Governance: Champion data quality by undertaking data profiling, testing, and reconciliation activities. You will also create high-quality documentation and data flow diagrams
Who We’re Looking For
You are a detail-oriented problem solver with a blend of technical and commercial skills. You have a curious mindset, especially regarding the potential of AI tools, and 5-7 years of commercial experience in Data or Analysis.
Technical Stack: Advanced SQL skills and experience with Python, BigQuery are essential
Data Fluency: Experience with database queries, data migration/conversion projects, and understanding data platforms.
Collaboration: A strong communicator who thrives in agile, cross-functional teams and can use tools like Jira, Confluence, and Lucid to drive collaboration.
Industry Experience: Experience within complex data environments; FMCG or Retail experience is preferred.
