What you'll do
The Senior Solution Architect role is pivotal within the People & Data Domain and is a critical part of Woolworths Group Technology. The domain is seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect to join the Architecture Practice in an exciting and challenging role that provides opportunities for growth while shaping the future of People, Data, AI and Automation capabilities across the Group.
The successful candidate will influence and shape the technology landscape across the supported business areas by developing and maintaining technology and architecture roadmaps, partnering with key stakeholders on architecture vision and strategy, and delivering solution architecture outcomes that align with Woolworths business objectives and technology strategy.
Reporting to the Head of Technology – People & Data Architecture, the successful candidate will ideally have experience across one or more of Workforce Management, Payroll, Human Capital Management, Enterprise Data Platforms, Data & Analytics, Agentic AI, Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Automation, Integration or DevSecOps domains. This business and technology acumen will be complemented by strong architecture expertise, with responsibilities including:
Develop and communicate strategic target states, architecture assessments, and roadmaps to guide investments across the People & Data Domain.
Define and design fit-for-purpose solution architectures that bridge business objectives with Woolworths' enterprise technology strategy.
Establish and promote robust architecture standards, policies, and reference patterns to ensure seamless, high-quality delivery across complex initiatives.
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies including Agentic AI, Data Platforms, MCP, RPA, and Intelligent Automation to drive transformation.
Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, translating complex architectural decisions into clear, strategic insights.
Facilitate high-quality technology estimation, solution options, and roadmap planning to back critical funding and delivery decisions.
Partner deeply with cross-functional teams spanning People, Data, AI, and Enterprise Technology to co-create unified tech directions.
Mentor and coach fellow architects and tech practitioners while contributing to the continuous growth of the Woolworths Group Architecture Practice.
What you’ll bring
8 -10+ years' experience within the technology industry, retail services, or technology consulting environments.
5+ years' experience designing and delivering complex business and technology solutions within large-scale programs and transformation initiatives.
Proven experience developing technology strategies, target-state architectures, and multi-year technology roadmaps.
Strong architecture experience across enterprise applications, integration, cloud, data, digital, and emerging AI capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate innovative technologies and translate business opportunities into practical, scalable solutions.
Experience working across multiple delivery teams, influencing senior stakeholders, and balancing strategic and tactical outcomes.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and partnering skills.
Retail, supply chain, workforce management, or customer-facing technology experience is highly regarded.
