What you'll do

As our Senior Health & Safety Specialist, your core focus will be driving the development and continuous improvement of innovative, user-centric safety management systems across the Woolworths Group. A key focus will be on leveraging technology and AI to enable these systems and provide expert advice that ensures our health and safety practices are contemporary and compliant. You will be instrumental in integrating these solutions to create a safer and more efficient workplace across Australia and New Zealand.

  • Drive the development and continuous improvement of a modern, user-focused safety management system across the Woolworths Group

  • Leverage emerging technology and AI solutions to enable and optimise our safety systems, powered by Donesafe

  • Provide expert advice on health and safety matters, from risk assessments to incident investigations, to enhance capability across the business

  • Embedding contemporary safety principles like human and organisational performance to create right-sized systems that empower business units

  • Foster collaborative engagement with internal and external stakeholders to improve safety outcomes and align with industry best practice


What you'll bring

  • 10+ years experience in Health & Safety, with a proven track record of developing and implementing safety management systems in complex organisations

  • Technical expertise in Australian WHS legislation, ISO 45001, accredited safety systems (including self insured systems), and contemporary principles like human-centred design and resilience engineering

  • Proficiency in digital safety, data analytics, and leveraging emerging AI applications to drive safety outcomes

  • Strong communication and leadership skills (direct or indirect), with a demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels

  • Strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, anticipate WHS trends, and align safety initiatives with business objectives

  • Highly collaborative and agile, comfortable working in a fast-paced matrix environment with a passion for continuous improvement
