The Opportunity
Refrigeration is critical infrastructure for Woolworths Group, supporting around one-third of total turnover and representing over $1.5B in assets, $180M in annual energy spend and significant ongoing CAPEX and maintenance investment. As renewable electricity adoption increases, transitioning refrigeration systems to natural refrigerants is essential to achieving the Group’s emissions reduction targets. Strong engineering expertise is required to optimise performance, manage costs, drive sustainability outcomes and deliver continuous innovation, safety and lifecycle improvements across refrigeration systems.
What you’ll do
Provide refrigeration systems expertise and support engineering strategy development for the Woolworths 360 team.
Collaborate with Showcase and HVAC Engineers to deliver efficient, sustainable and cost-effective refrigeration solutions.
Support Field Engineers with specification interpretation, site solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead refrigeration capability building through guild leadership, stakeholder engagement and technical training.
Maintain refrigeration specifications, briefs and services drawings aligned with business and industry standards requirements.
Drive safety, sustainability and energy reduction initiatives across refrigeration plant lifecycles.
Lead innovation in emerging refrigeration technologies, including CO₂ systems, HFC-free solutions and digital controls integration.
What you’ll bring
Extensive expertise in retail refrigeration design, installation and maintenance.
Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders.
Proven experience delivering energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives.
Strong understanding of FMCG retail operations and refrigeration asset criticality.
Skilled in project management, financial evaluation and implementation delivery.
Effective collaborator with field teams, technology partners and equipment manufacturers.
Washington Accord recognised engineering degree qualified with 10+ years’ experience, including refrigeration plant design and standards implementation.
