What You'll Do:
wiq's Foundational Assets team owns the core data assets that power analytical and operational decision-making across the business — a portfolio spanning availability, promotions, product and store attributes, ranging, and events. Our work eliminates duplicate effort, centralises enhancements, and ensures downstream teams can trust what they're consuming.
This is a hands-on senior role for someone equally comfortable writing production-grade SQL and sitting with internal stakeholders to understand what they actually need. You'll be expected to ask the right questions, push back where needed, and think beyond the immediate ticket to the long-term integrity of the asset.
Design and implement data models that serve as reliable, well-structured sources of truth for downstream consumption
Build and maintain ELT pipelines in DBT, ensuring our foundational assets are performant, testable, and well-documented
Translate business problems into clear technical roadmaps — breaking down internal stakeholder needs into structured, actionable work for the team
Set and uphold the bar on SQL quality, naming conventions, and model design through peer code reviews and hands-on guidance
Contribute to data quality frameworks and governance standards across the asset portfolio
What You Bring
5+ years in a data engineering or analytics engineering role, with meaningful experience owning or contributing to core or foundational data assets
Expert-level SQL with a strong instinct for readability and maintainability
Hands-on DBT experience in a production environment (BigQuery preferred)
A product mindset — you care about reliability, clarity, and the experience of the people consuming your data
The ability to bridge business and technical domains — translating stakeholder needs into sound data solutions and communicating modelling decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
What you’ll experience:
A global business with endless career possibilities around every corner and across every discipline – with valuable exposure to a vast and exciting business network.
Team discounts across our range of Woolworths Group brands you know and love and a robust rewards program that celebrates and incentivises purpose-driven work.
12 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers plus paid superannuation for up to 12 months while the Team Member is on parental leave - eligible from the first day of employment.
A range of programs to help you prioritise and manage your wellbeing, including 24/7 access to the Sonder app. A progressive and competitive leave policy that gives you more space for what matters to you.
