The Safety, Health and Wellbeing of our team and customers is critical. Our Safety, Health, and Wellbeing team is responsible for working with operational leaders to provide and maintain a safe working and shopping environment for our team members, customers, visitors, and contractors.


The Opportunity

This is a newly created role to support leader capability and team engagement across the Group, along with partnering with key support teams (including GPACS, Finance & Procurement, IT/Group Enablement, Legal, International excl NZ).


Operating in a complex environment, this role acts as a critical bridge between technical safety requirements and cultural adoption. By moving beyond simple compliance, you will drive the collective ownership required to bring our safety promise, 'Our Place' to life, ensuring safety is seamlessly integrated into the daily rhythm of our non-operational functions. 

    

What you’ll do

  • Planning: Drive the development of annual safety &well being roadmaps aligned with the broader Woolworths Group strategy and quarterly OKR cycles for the key support terms. (including GPACS, Finance & Procurement, IT/Group Enablement, Legal, International excl NZ).
  • Business Partnering: Partner with support teams (Finance, Legal, International offices, etc.) to uplift safety maturity and leadership confidence.
  • Capability: Partner with People team to uplift their knowledge, capability and confidence in supporting across support teams for both physical and psychosocial risks.  
  • Engagement: Design and deploy scalable frameworks and compelling content to increase safety literacy and drive the "Our Place" (safety promise) engagement calendar.
  • Operational Excellence: Partner with key safety & wellbeing teams and business units to enable the operationalisation of risk management systems and processes, integrating requirements into everyday leadership routines.
  • Stakeholder Coaching: Act as a trusted advisor to Group Executives and support office teams, providing expert coaching on active safety leadership.
  • Data-Driven Improvement: Leverage "Voice of Team" sentiment and safety data to identify capability gaps and execute targeted, continuous improvement interventions.


What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of Safety experience within a fast-paced, matrixed environment, supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Psychology, or a related field (e.g OT).
  • Physical and Psychosocial risk: Strong knowledge and experience in both physical and psychosocial risk management within the Knowledge Worker environment. 
  • Safety Acumen: Ability to interpret technical safety & wellbeing requirements into “business ready” language that drives action and understanding across a variety of audiences.
  • Content Creation: Ability to create clear, visually engaging content (e.g. guides, videos, and presentations).
  • Facilitation: Strong public speaking skills for delivering huddles, drop-in sessions, and training webinars.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Skilled in analysing safety data and other insights to create compelling narratives that drive meaningful engagement and informed decision-making.
