The Opportunity
As an experienced Safety Engineer, you will be accountable for providing support across all businesses. You will functionally partner with all engineering teams and other stakeholders to drive end-to-end lifecycle management of safety in design, with a specific focus on automation and machinery from concept/ideation, detailed design, procurement, manufacturer, install, operate & maintain, through to decommission and dispose. This role is critical to providing a comprehensive, consistent and integrated safety engineering and safety design approach and principles applied to business/functional unit operations. It will identify, anticipate, and prevent risks that may present a material risk to the businesses and develop strategies, processes and systems for monitoring and managing those risks.
This role will work across key groups within the Woolworths Group, with a particular focus on automation and large machinery & plant. It will work both within Agile squads, but also directly working into the business to support across the lifecycle of automation and large machinery & plant.
What you’ll do:
Facilitate the various safety lifecycle activities utilising appropriate risk methodologies and safety design principles.
Support capital and procurement processes as well as design, specification and commissioning processes to ensure “right first time” safety outcomes.
Lead and influence the internal auditing program to maintain effective levels of safety across the group.
Provide oversight and direction on safety practices across the business.
Provide training and coaching on the subject matter across the group.
What you’ll bring:
Current TUV safety certification such as FSEng, CMSE, CEFS or equivalent certification.
At least 5 years work experience within a machine safety or process safety field role
In-depth understanding and demonstrable experience with AS/NZ 4024; and familiarity with EU Machine Directive 2006/42/EC and ability to understand differences to AU requirements
Strong experience with industry leading Safety in Design frameworks; including application of both WHS regulations and relevant AU/NZ and ISO Standards
Strong knowledge and experience of supplier risk management, along with the material risks
