The Safety, Health, and Wellbeing of our teams and customers is paramount. The SH&W Property & Construction Partner will collaborate with the Property Business Unit to create an action-oriented plan aligned with the Woolworths Group SH&W Strategy. Success in this role will be demonstrated through a measurable decrease in safety risks and improved safety performance metrics across the Property business.

 

What you’ll do
Reporting to the Head of Safety, the role is aimed to influence and sense check the organisational approach to SH&W.  It will coach Line Leaders and Business Partners across the Woolworths Property business to help improve the level of safety awareness and knowledge.

  • Contribute to the development of safety, health & wellbeing (SH&W) tactical plans in alignment with the Property and Woolworths Group SH&W Strategies

  • Work with operational and functional leaders through to front line teams to improve SHW outcomes

  • Build a positive reputation across Property to be the “go to” SH&W expert.

  • Support, coach and drive to ensure accountability and operational disciple for SH&W is done through the operational line, and not seen or delegated to “SH&W”  

  • Work with and/or provide guidance directly or indirectly to design teams

  • Participate in the construction and execution of a competent safety assurance program

  • Lead or oversee SH&W incident & emergency management, along with investigations into health & safety events 

  • Attend project sites and provide guidance as to Woolworths safety expectations.

  • Prepare reports for Woolworths management to review regarding project SHW, compliance and especially critical risks pertaining to the project.


What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years work experience within Health and Safety, with the bulk attained in a commercial construction context. 

  • Extensive experience with on-site safety support in construction projects to have first hand knowledge & experience of construction related safety risks.

  • Experience of Client, Principal and sub-Contractor arrangements in a tier 2 construction environment.

  • Experience in competitive stakeholder management and the ability to drive to a win-win safety outcome. 

  • Experience in compliance, system and certification audits.

  • Experience in leading complex investigations

  • Experience with fast paced environment, with growing complexity
