What You Will Do

As a Project Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of Tier 1 Infrastructure projects valued between $100M and $1B. You will direct a high-performing, cross-functional team,spanning supply chain, engineering, IT, legal, commercial, and external partners,to take major assets from design to full operational capability. By driving strict control over scope, budget, quality, and change management, you will ensure seamless project execution, robust governance, and maximum long-term business value.


Key Responsibilities

  • Full Lifecycle Leadership: Direct all project phases,from initial mobilisation and detailed design through construction, operational commissioning, and volume ramp up.
  • Cross Functional Team Management: Lead and align stream leads across DC Design, Property, IT, Replenishment, Commercial, Network Design, Business Readiness, Change & Comms, and Legal.
  • Vendor & Supplier Oversight: Manage external contractors and partners to ensure high-performance delivery, quality standards, and contract compliance.
  • Critical Challenge & Pressure Testing: Challenge proposed strategies and decisions across workstreams to guarantee robust, data-backed operational outcomes.
  • Financial & Scope Control: Tighten and enforce project scope, control budgets, and safeguard delivery quality to maximise business benefits.
  • Governance & Compliance: Maintain strict project governance, risk mitigation, and assurance reporting in alignment with the Woolworths Project Management Framework.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Change Readiness: Maintain transparent, regular communication across executive and cross divisional forums while building organisational commitment to operational changes.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies operational bottlenecks and project roadblocks early, analysing root causes to implement practical solutions that keep the project on track and aligned with business goals.


Key Requirements & Capabilities

  • Large-Scale Infrastructure Expertise: Sound end-to-end knowledge of large scale warehousing/distribution projects, with deep familiarity across DC Operations, Property, IT, Design, Safety, Transport, and Change Management.
  • Proven Multi-Team Leadership: Demonstrated track record of managing and aligning diverse, cross-functional stream leads and external vendors to deliver complex project outcomes under tight deadlines.
  • Mastery of PM Frameworks & Risk Control: Hands-on application of project management methodologies to baseline plans, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and manage strict project governance (backed by a PM qualification or relevant technical degree).
  • Strategic Vision with Detail Focus: Ability to think both strategically and tactically maintaining a firm grip on intricate project details without losing sight of the overarching business objectives.
  • Resilience:A calm, adaptable approach capable of maintaining momentum, focus, and drive across extended, high-stakes project lifecycles.
  • Stakeholder Negotiation & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate effectively, present confidently to leadership, and influence key stakeholders.
