What you’ll do
Our Product Leads are the technical leader and SME within a Hosting portfolio (Cloud Database services) and supports the Database Product Owner in strategy, roadmap development and execution of said roadmap while working closely with wider database squad members.
Our database portfolio is a critical technology enabler given DB technologies underpin Woolworths enterprise applications, across our environment spanning Azure and GCP, Cloud Native and traditional Database technologies.
The role requires Technical leadership, Cloud Architecture, Database technology expertise with a deep Product Engineering and Automation background.
You will work with the Product Owner, engineering manager and a team of cloud automation engineers and technical architects to deliver the following outcomes
You will also be responsible to
- Drive the future of our database services, shaping a strategy that balances innovation with efficiency.
- Lead the evolution of our Database Services Roadmap, integrating emerging technologies to empower business growth.
- Collaborate with expert teams to ensure flawless database implementations and maintain top-tier service standards.
- Be a technical beacon, guiding engineers and advising application teams on all database portfolio technologies.
- Champion proactive risk management, safeguarding our database products with industry best practices.
- Contribute to effective budget management, maximizing value and supporting targeted innovation across the database portfolio..
What you’ll bring
Specifically, this role requires Technical leadership, Cloud Architecture, Database technology expertise with a deep Product Engineering and Automation background.
Also, you’ll bring in:
- Seasoned IT Professional: Bring 8+ years of IT industry experience, with a strong background in technology-led roles, particularly in Database Technology Infrastructure and/or Development.
- Database Technology Expert: Possess deep expertise in Database Services Platforms, encompassing traditional technologies like Oracle and MSSQL, as well as cloud-native offerings such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and similar.
- Cloud Architecture Maven: Demonstrate profound experience with Google Cloud Platform or Azure, including recent success in designing and implementing standardized service offerings.
- Automation Ace: Showcase your automation prowess with traditional scripting (Powershell, Bash) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM), alongside CI/CD pipeline experience (Azure DevOps).
- Technical Leader & Mentor: Proven ability to lead and guide technical teams, acting as a trusted advisor and a recognized technical leader in database technologies and engineering excellence.
- Strategic Communicator: Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at conveying complex technical information to both technical and senior management audiences, and skilled in stakeholder and risk management.
