As our People & Assets Protection Specialist, you will safeguard our team, customers, and revenue by leading our profit protection strategies across our store network. Based in Auckland (Favona Support Office and store sites), you’ll minimise criminal risk and asset loss through proactive coordination and cost-effective security solutions. This individual contributor role requires high flexibility, involving consistent travel throughout the week as well as trips across Zone 1 & 2, from Northland to Taupō, including overnights. This role combines proactive strategy implementation, as well as reactive support to our Operational Leaders.

What you'll do | Hei mahi

  • Take the lead on internal and external fraud or dishonesty cases, managing everything from initial incident response to final reporting for high-severity events.

  • Plan your schedule using our risk model & data to prioritise high-loss sites to keep us on track with our budget and targets.

  • Carry out on-site reviews to make sure our cash handling, security tech, Store Safety equipment and other Profit Protection Standards are being used effectively and safely.

  • Support the Investigations & Protection Lead in reviewing and re-engineering profit protection procedures to meet evolving business needs, employment law, and criminal legislation.

  • Coach and deliver training modules for operations management and teams to drive a culture of safety & asset protection.

  • Maintain strong links with local Police and other external vendors, keep our Senior Managers in the loop, acting as a key influence in driving a proactive security culture across the business.


What you’ll bring | Hei koha

To be successful in this role, your experience will likely reflect:

  • Solid background in supermarket retail or a similar fast-paced environment with desired experience in security, Police, or investigative roles.

  • Strong understanding of using data-driven analytics and tools to track trends, identify risks, and make informed decisions.

  • Proven track record in coaching and mentoring, with the ability to facilitate training that builds team capability and sharpens security awareness.

  • Strong partnerships & relationship building, using your influence skills across stakeholders at all levels - both internally and with external partners.

  • Sharp business/operational acumen and planning skills, allowing you to manage a reactive schedule while keeping long-term profit protection goals in sight.
