We are Woolworths Group

We are Woolworths Group. 200,000+ bright minds, passionate hearts, and unique perspectives across Australia and New Zealand. Connected by a shared Purpose - 'to create better experiences together for a better tomorrow'. That Purpose fuels our ambition to explore new ideas, make brave commitments, and innovate better ways to meet the food and everyday needs of more than 24 million customers every week.

If you're excited to turn today's blue-sky thinking into a better tomorrow for future generations, you'll find yourself supported and enriched in a dynamic, inclusive, and empowering workplace. With a culture of genuine care, a flexible approach to work, and opportunities across the group to grow your career and make a meaningful impact, the possibilities for what we can achieve together are endless.

What you'll do

We are building a high-performance acquisition engine at Woolworths MarketPlus and this role sits at the center of it.

As a Business Development Manager, your mandate is simple: Identify, win, and activate high-quality sellers that accelerate category growth.

You will focus on the upper mid-market segment, targeting brands and retailers with the scale, operational capability, and ambition to succeed across Woolworths Group marketplaces (Woolworths Online, Big W & Everyday Rewards). Your core categories of focus: Play (toys, games, Electronics, outdoor, kids' entertainment), Everyday (health + beauty,  lifestyle, baby, general merchandise).

This is not a passive account management role. This is a front-line sales role with clear targets, strong incentives, and a direct impact on the growth of the marketplace.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • End-to-End Acquisition: Own the full sales funnel for upper mid-market sellers, from initial prospecting and pitching to closing and final activation.

  • Strategic Pipeline Management: Execute data-driven outbound strategies and leverage partnerships to build a high-quality pipeline that meets monthly activation targets.

  • Category-Led Growth: Collaborate with Category Leads to identify range gaps and prioritise sellers that deliver product differentiation and commercial upside.

  • Activation Excellence: Partner with onboarding teams to accelerate the "time-to-first-sale," ensuring new sellers go live quickly and achieve an early GTV ramp.

  • Data-Driven Performance: Maintain rigorous CRM discipline to track and optimise performance across leads, meetings, contracts, and activations.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Commercial and Enablement teams to define "what good looks like" and ensure high-quality seller integration.

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience in sales, partnerships, or business development (e-commerce, marketplace, retail or SaaS preferred).

  • Strong ability to prospect, negotiate, and close deals.

  • Commercial acumen with a clear understanding of what makes a seller successful.

  • Data-driven mindset with experience using CRM and pipeline tools.

  • High levels of ownership, resilience, and pace.

What you'll experience

We embrace diversity of thought and love to take on challenges with a pragmatic and innovative approach. Our culture thrives on mutual respect, care, curiosity, openness, and a proactive attitude. We continually seek ways to pair, collaborate, support, and learn from each other as a team!

  • Team discounts across our range of Woolworths Group brands you know and love and a robust rewards program that celebrates and incentivises purpose-driven work

  • A global business with endless career possibilities around every corner and across every discipline – with valuable exposure to a vast and exciting business network

  • A commitment to flexibility through a hybrid working model which combines time spent at a support office or hub and time working from home, supporting both in-person connection and balancing the flexibility that remote working provides for our teams

  • Parental Leave provisions and various leave types, including but not limited to Study Leave and Sports Representation Leave
