What you’ll do | Hei mahi
The New Zealand Media and PR team sits within the Woolworths Group Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability function and exists to build Woolworths brand, drive advocacy and support its reputation creating better experiences for customers, team members and communities for a better tomorrow.
Working with the Head of Media and PR for New Zealand, the Media Relations and PR Specialist will support and manage both proactive and reactive media as well as be responsible for a calendar of communications to our supplier community. This person will also manage external communications and PR requirements for major brand calendar moments (e.g. Collectibles, Christmas) in partnership with the NZ brand and marketing teams and Group Media and PR colleagues.
This role will support the management of the NZ Press office which includes day-to-day reactive media enquiries, as well as overseeing proactive communications for projects and initiatives and issues/crisis management (including support for the customer care and social media teams). The role plays a part in Woolworth’’s emergency and crisis response team.
Additionally you will;
- Develop and deliver communication plans to promote business initiatives.
- Draft media responses and conducting daily media monitoring.
- Manage NZ PR campaigns and the Woolworths NZ LinkedIn account.
- Lead supplier communications and managing a multi-channel engagement calendar.
- Provide communication support for issues and crisis management, including after-hours
What you’ll bring | Hei koha
- 3-5 years of experience managing diverse media enquiries.
- Strong writing skills, especially under pressure as well as strong news sense.
- Ability to build relationships with journalists.
- Highly organised with excellent communication skills.
- Experienced with Canva, Google Suite, and Salesforce (preferred).
