What you’ll do | Hei mahi
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Media and PR team where you’ll use all your skills and experience to help us tell our story to kiwis. You'll be instrumental in leading day-to-day media relations, and will be a key point of contact for media and other stakeholders.
Being able to build trust and strong relationships with journalists is an important part of this role and you'll be responsible for developing proactive communication plans and pitches while balancing reactive responses.
You’ll support our spokespeople to shine when they get in front of journalists and if things go wrong, you'll provide crucial communications support for external issues and crisis situations.
Further to that, you'll use your skills in communications (written and content development) and planning to craft clear, concise, and impactful communications and support the development of plans to execute against the strategy. You’ll build content to be used internally for brand narrative, and employee advocacy, all while considering what the external opportunities are too.
You’ll also frequently work alongside our external agency partners, helping them to do great work on our behalf.
Ultimately you'll ensure messages and stories are well-received and contribute directly to our strategy and objectives, and help positively shift our customer and employee advocacy.
What you’ll bring | Hei koha
As an expert in the field of media relations and communications, you'll have a deep understanding of the New Zealand media landscape, and will either be an ex journalist or someone with established and trusted working relationships with NZ media.
You’ll be comfortable in managing media enquiries, often under tight deadlines all while showcasing your superior written skills. You'll also be great at identifying opportunities for proactive media coverage, building a pitch and getting it in front of the right journalist.
This role demands someone who is highly organised with excellent communication skills, a solid grasp of current affairs, and a strong general news sense, along with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a large, complex environment.
