What you’ll do

This role is part of the IT Service Operations and Infrastructure Group and involves collaborating with business customers, IT departments, service providers, vendors, and strategic partners. It is responsible for providing technical support and operational oversight of Woolworths’ enterprise computing operations.

This is a key role in defining operational standards and ensuring adherence by support partners. You will leverage your expertise to oversee the availability, maintenance, and performance of systems within Woolworths’ large Multi-Cloud environment.

This role also requires active involvement in support, management, administration, automation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Compute Operations and Configurations within Woolworths’ Multi-Cloud setup. By working closely with strategic partners, you will ensure best practices, drive automation, enhance stability, and manage support effectively.


Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide Operational oversight of RedHat, SUSE and Oracle Linux and Windows Servers across various versions hosted in Cloud and On-premise locations. 
  • Oversee key supporting services underpinning our Compute environment.
  • Ensure stability and availability of strategic workloads, maintaining configurations aligned with baselines.
  • Collaborate with Cloud engineering teams to develop and drive platform improvements, ensuring a seamless operational handover of new projects and initiatives.
  • Hold ITIL service operations responsibility for Woolworths server environments including risk and issue, incident, problem, availability, capacity, performance and change management.
  • Work closely with managed service partners to maintain the Compute Platform, including continual service improvement and lifecycle management of operating systems.
  • Ensure adherence to IT service management disciplines and company methodologies.
  • Maintain a culture of customer service and satisfaction, with responsiveness to customer needs and proactive attention to business and technical requirements.
  • Manage escalation, both hierarchically and process related.
  • Provide after-hours support as required.


What you’ll bring

As an experienced IT professional specializing in Linux and Windows operating environments across both Cloud and On-Premises, you will bring a combination of technical capabilities and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of internal & external stakeholders.


Capabilities:

  • Strong desire to automate, codify and continuously improve all aspects of the work environment.
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code using tools such as Terraform, GitHub, Ansible, Azure DevOps. 
  • Proven understanding of hosting platforms, including Azure, GCP, VMware and both Private & Public cloud.
  • Deep knowledge of networking, identity, and security practices within the Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge in patching and configuration management tools.
  • Knowledge in scripting languages and automation.
  • Knowledge in Directory Services and LDAP.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across teams and work autonomously.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks while efficiently handling competing demands.

Experience:

  • Strong experience in managing enterprise services at scale.
  • Experience and firm grasp of enterprise best practices and architectural patterns that support these practices.
  • Highly regarded professional certifications in Azure/Microsoft/RedHat/Terraform/Ansible.
  • Experience in large scale enterprise environments
  • IT Service Operations (e.g. ITIL v4) with a relevant degree, qualification or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing customer relationships and driving outcomes.
  • A strong track record of operating in large enterprise hosting and cloud environments
  • Previous experience working in a multi-sourced vendor environment.
