The Opportunity 


The Head of Business Development for Fruit & Vegetable leads the crafting and execution of a winning growth strategy, for our multi-million dollar Fruit & Vegetable portfolio.


This dynamic leadership role involves collaborating with Woolworths' valued suppliers and other retail  produce customers. By deeply understanding their end-to-end supply chain needs, you'll champion the development of optimised solutions that enhance service, boost efficiency, and drive cost savings. 


What you’ll do 


  • Drive growth, leading the development and execution of a winning growth strategy, for our multi-million dollar Fruit & Vegetable portfolio.
  • Take charge of the entire commodity portfolio, achieving financial targets and driving regional initiatives.
  • Innovate and expand; designing and delivering cutting-edge commercial strategies, to unlock growth with both existing and new business partners.
  • Nurture and grow a loyal customer base of over 100 valued partners.
  • Identify, develop, and convert fresh business opportunities to fuel sustainable growth in the Fruit & Vegetable category.
  • Take the lead in negotiating rates, securing commercial value, and executing contracts with new customers.
  • Cultivate a customer-centric culture, ensuring an exceptional experience for every client and driving strong organic growth and retention.
  • Develop a high-performing team, fostering talent, and championing best-in-class sales and account management practices.


What you'll bring 


  • FMCG or similar background with minimum 10 years of Senior Leadership experience is required.
  • An entrepreneurial outlook and fresh view, able to join the dots between the goals and opportunities that exist that may not have been surfaced 
  • Demonstrated capability to connect with stakeholders from Farmers/Growers through to Internal Stakeholders
  • Produce / fruit & vegetable related experience is preferred.
  • Experience in identifying and converting new business opportunities ensuring sustainable commercial outcomes.
  • Commercial and/or Supply Chain experience and the demonstration of strategic thinking and execution is preferred.
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, underpinned by a genuine desire to create value for others.
