The Opportunity
eComX represents the largest food retail eCommerce business in Australia, growing at an incredible ~15% per year. It is a key contributor of sales growth for the Woolworths Group.
Woolworths at Work is the online shopping platform for business customers within eComX, allowing Australian workplaces to shop online for fresh food, kitchen and cleaning supplies, and other essential products with a tailored B2B solution.
The Finance Manager - Woolworths at Work is a commercially focused business partnering role that will work hand in hand with the Woolworths at Work leadership team to analyse current business performance, identify opportunities to enhance financial performance, provide financial support for strategic decisions as well as shape the future strategic direction of the business.
This is an exciting opportunity, involving business partnering on short term trading and performance whilst also shaping strategic priorities for the future. It is accountable for leading and developing a high performing finance team and contributing to the strategic direction of eComX.
What you’ll do
Reporting to the General Manager, Finance - eComX, and partnering with the Managing Director, Woolworths at Work and the Woolworths at Work leadership team, this is a leadership role within the eComX finance team and will be responsible for;
- Strategic Business Partnering: Work hand in hand with the Woolworths at Work leadership to develop and translate strategic priorities into short and long term financial goals, using commercial data to evaluate opportunities and risks.
- Strategic Planning & Forecasting: Lead the annual strategic plan and monthly forecasting process, identifying risks early and partnering with leadership to shape the Woolworths at Work and eComX strategy and translate priorities into actionable goals.
- Commercial Insights & Analytics: Drive business performance through value-add analytics, specifically focusing on optimising Woolworths at Work financial results and tracking weekly KPIs.
- Financial Reporting & Storytelling: Own month-end, BPM, and quarterly reporting, delivering accurate financial commentary and "storytelling" to influence stakeholder decision-making.
- Investment & Business Cases: Oversee business case development, capital advisory liaison, and post-implementation analysis to ensure rigorous benefit tracking for all investments.
- Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership: Lead and develop a high-performing finance team while partnering across eComX and Retail units to leverage insights and automate reporting.
What you’ll bring
- Extensive Finance Leadership: 10+ years of experience in commercial or operational finance, including team leadership and end-to-end management of month-end, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Strategic Business Partnering: Proven ability to manage senior business relationships and drive transformation within fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Advanced Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and "storyboarding" skills to translate financial data into compelling business narratives.
- Analytical Problem Solving: A logical thinker with a high degree of autonomy and sound judgment to prioritize competing deadlines and solve complex problems.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level financial modeling and Excel skills, with hands-on experience using SAP, SAP BW, and IPA.
- Professional Qualifications:University degree and a recognised professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, or equivalent).
