The Opportunity
Strategic partnerships through our external alliances and internal growth businesses are critical to creating better experiences for our customers and long term value for Woolworths Group. The Partnerships, Growth Business Strategy & Value Creation team manages these overarching relationships and works across internal Retail and Group Platforms to unlock mutual strategic and financial value.
The Commercial Manager, Value Creation role exists to provide the analytical rigour, structured problem-solving, and commercial horsepower required to deliver our complex partnership strategies. This role focuses on bringing strategic thinking to commercial challenges and is instrumental in driving key workstreams and managing stakeholders to deliver tangible outcomes.
What you’ll do
This role sits within the Partnerships, Growth Business Strategy & Value Creation team as part of the Group Finance function. It supports the Head of Commercial Partnerships.
The Partnerships, Growth Business Strategy & Value Creation team is responsible for the active oversight and management of Woolworths Group strategic external partners and internal growth businesses and works across the full spectrum of the Group to ensure the partnerships deliver sizable commercial value.
- Strategic Problem-Solving: Inject innovative thinking to solve complex partnership questions and navigate the ambiguity of large-scale, multi-layered commercial agreements.
- Commercial & Financial Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis and financial modeling to drive insights and unlock value creation.
- Executive Communication: Translate complex data and partnership dynamics into compelling presentations, reports, and briefings for senior leadership and external partners.
- End-to-End Project Management: Lead key projects and workstreams from inception to completion, managing competing priorities to deliver high-quality outcomes on time.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Influence: Build strong relationships and influence a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders across business units without direct authority.
- Commercial Deal Support: Support the negotiation of high-value commercial agreements and project-manage the ongoing operating cadence of key partnerships.
What you’ll bring
- Professional Experience: 3–5 years in a commercial and analytical role within a top-tier strategy consulting/accounting firm, or corporate development/M&A team. Exposure to the retail or consumer goods sector would be an ideal bonus.
- Analytical & Strategic Skills: Strong commercial acumen with a track record in strategic problem-solving and financial analysis.
- Project & Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects, engage stakeholders, and influence across different levels of an organisation.
- Technical & AI Literacy: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, alongside a strong working proficiency in AI tools.
- Education & Agility: Holds a university degree and displays high learning agility with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
