What you’ll do
The Category Development Lead is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of customer-focused department, category and range reviews strategies for our Merchandising Managers and Category Managers, driving continuous improvement while providing analytical support including developing business improvement opportunities and generating proactive & actionable insights. 

 

  • Identify key strategic priorities for departments, categories and range reviews using quantitative and qualitative data; including customer behaviour, market trends, category performance, pricing, supplier dynamics

  • Partner with Category Managers and Merchandise Managers to provide targeted portfolio recommendations on strategy and ranging to deliver strong commercial outcomes

  • Driving change with cross-functional squads on strategic growth areas to land a customer first outcome

  • Leverage analytical skills and financial acumen to advise on range optimization, clustering, commercial investment and customer opportunities

  • Consult and collaborate with cross functional stakeholders across the business to deliver desired outcomes

  • Demonstrate continuous improvement and evolving category development process in line with the company’s strategic objectives


What you’ll bring

  • Strong coaching and development experience to support junior team members 

  • Strong understanding of retail through experience within a Retailer, Supplier or as a Consultant with one of the leading Consultancy firms - Expected

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related subject or equal professional experience - Essential

  • Knowledge of existing ranging capabilities in the retail sector - an advantage
