What you’ll do
Part of the Category Development team, this role is responsible for partnering across the commercial (buying) teams to deliver on refreshed category plans, improved financials through COGS negotiation support and driving strategic initiatives to deliver on our customer promise. Successful delivery in this role will be underpinned by effectively leveraging our data to create insights to inform and reshape our customer offer and drive growth, identifying and generating opportunities for value creation with suppliers.
As a key member of the Category Development team, you will support our commercial (buying) teams by turning data into actionable insights. You will learn the fundamentals of category analysis and play a vital role in helping us understand our customers and improve our product ranges.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
Support Category Managers and Planners by extracting data and providing analysis to inform category strategy.
Assist in analysing customer behaviour, market trends, and category performance to uncover opportunities for growth.
Contribute to projects by preparing reports, building dashboards, and presenting findings to the team.
Help prepare the data and analysis required to support the category teams in supplier negotiations.
Develop your skills in structured problem-solving and learn how to translate complex data into simple, clear recommendations.
Support Category Managers in assessing supplier proposals.
Participate in the creation of ranging analytics tools and roll-out of best practice Buying processes.
Support with recording outcomes of closed supplier negotiations.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a genuine desire to learn and grow. You don't need to be an expert yet, but you should have a solid foundation and a proactive attitude.
A developing commercial acumen with a keen interest in the retail industry.
Good communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical concepts clearly.
A high level of attention to detail and the ability to present information neatly and accurately.
A structured approach to problem-solving and the ability to work with complex information.
A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; or 1-2 years of experience in an analytical role.
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel are essential. Basic knowledge of SQL is a big advantage, but not required.
A curious, proactive, and collaborative mindset.
