What you’ll do


  • Drive significant improvements in safety across the Woolworths Group by providing safety engineering expertise and guidance advice to the senior leadership team.
  • Lead the strategy development, establishment and enhancement of safety in design frameworks, management systems, and associated work in new and existing businesses across Woolworths Group.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing safety engineering team, managing priorities to achieve Woolworths Group safety objectives.
  • Support critical business functions (investigations, acquisitions, regulatory responses) to maintain machinery safety within Woolworths' risk tolerance.
  • Review and ensure the quality of safety engineering work.
  • Predict future industry changes, assess potential safety implications, and present complex data as clear, actionable insights for leadership
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Woolworths Group and externally.


What you’ll bring


  • Extensive engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in safety risk management 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or be a registered Professional Engineer (or able to obtain registration within 6 months)
  • CMSE or FS ENG (Machinery) certification is desirable
  • Deep Technical Expertise in Machinery Safety: Proven ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, international machinery directives (AS 4024, EU Machinery Directive), and safety design principles to complex projects. 
  • Success in leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to diverse stakeholders and effectively partner within a matrix organisation.
