What you’ll do | Hei mahi

This Business Analyst position will play an important role supporting the delivery of the overall Commercial Finance & Property strategy within Woolworths New Zealand.  Reporting into the Commercial Finance Manager, the Business Analyst position will work across all aspects of the Commercial Finance & Property Finance teams, providing timely and accurate information, creation of new reports and insights as required as well as adding value and efficiency through the enhancement and standardisation of existing reporting. 


The Key Responsibilities include:

  • Produce and maintain key financial reports (e.g., inflation, weekly/monthly, working capital).
  • Enhance existing reporting using SQL and spreadsheet skills to boost efficiency.
  • Support finance managers with cost center management, including journal entries and month-end reviews.
  • Assist with forecasting and budgeting processes, including data uploads to Google Cloud Platform.
  • Contribute to quarterly and yearly reporting and ad-hoc analysis.

You will gain broad exposure to the Commercial, Product & Replenishment (CPR) and Property areas of the WWNZ business. This role suits you if you are keen to expand your understanding of how these aspects of the business operate and what makes them tick while making a real difference to the quality of decision making through accurate and timely reporting and analysis.  


You will be organised, a great team player, have a strong attention to detail and an interest in driving efficiency through automation and standardisation.  


To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance; progressing towards a CA Qualification or similar.
  • Proficient in Google Sheets/Excel, with knowledge of SAP and familiarity with SQL/Google environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • A curious and efficiency-driven team player.
