What you’ll do

The Buyer, Baby & Nursery will deliver the BIG W Strategy by implementing the Category Strategy, creating the best range, and maximizing sales, profit, and customer satisfaction. This role focuses on delivering the right range assortment by developing a customer focused, value driven,  private label range for Baby and Nursery at Big W.  You will be partnering with new and existing suppliers to unlock product and partnership opportunities to transform the BIG W business.


Reporting to the Baby Nursery Category Manager, you will:


  • Partner with the Category Manager to build the Private Label category strategy across Baby & Nursery, using customer insights and market data to support the BIG W Strategy
  • Lead end-to-end product development within our private label range, emphasizing innovation and creation
  • Work with the Big W Sourcing Team, the Design Team, and Planning Team to deliver the best product at the best price, supporting business goals and 2025 sustainability targets
  • Partner with suppliers to build strong relationships and optimize the supplier portfolio to increase sales, profit, and customer advocacy
  • Curate ranges and refine pricing using customer and market insights to align with BIG W strategies
  • Manage the critical time path ensuring the end to end team work together on time to deliver key metrics
  • Identify market gaps and bring products to market quickly
  • Make clear recommendations and gain buy-in from teams
  • Support the overall day to day running of the Baby Nursery Categories


What you’ll bring

  • Previous experience as a commercial retail buyer. No Baby Nursery experience necessary
  • Product Development experience highly regarded
  • Experience trading a sizable category or department in terms of $ and options.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong partnering and influencing skills with proven experience in building relationships
  • A customer-first mindset with a passion for bringing great product to life
  • Experience delivering KPIs
