Through this partnership, the wiq team harnesses the best of Woolworths Group and Quantium data science and analytics talent to reimagine retail by solving the most complex problems using AI and analytics. As a team, we leverage Agile ways of working to help our team develop their skills while also making sure our team is focusing on solving the most complex problems for both our customers and team.


The purpose of the wiqNZ team is to unlock the power of data to imagine retail, which contributes to making Kiwis’ lives a little better every day. We work closely with all WWNZ business units, as well as with the broader wiq team. 


What you’ll do 

Drive scalable value from analytics use cases by harnessing the strengths and skills of the analytics and insights delivery squad, with a strong focus on supporting WWNZ transformation. Manage the technical delivery and quality of analytics projects and collaborate closely with the Strategic Insights or BI management to ensure work is delivered to the appropriate scope, timelines and in a way that will achieve business impact.  

  • Strategic Enablement & Alignment: Refine strategic insights plans, and jointly work to embed insights in action plans, ensuring alignment with BU, NZ and Group Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).  

  • Insights Technical Proficiency & Delivery: Manages technical delivery of team, including technical scoping and sizing. Plan and allocate resources according to priorities, skills and capacity, providing estimates of work effort, timeframes, costings and resourcing for analytical tasks.

  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Identifies, designs, and implements internal technical process improvements, including automation and ‘data product’ optimisation, and adopts new technical innovations like AI. Applies critical thinking to usage and outputs of tools to optimise insights delivery for greater scalability. 

  • Trans-Tasman operating model embedding:Actively share NZ-led examples with wiq forums and ensure NZ voice is heard in scoping / design sessions for new Group-first tools and approaches.

  • Mentorship & Collaboration: Cultivate a data-driven culture by facilitating the training and adoption of insights and analytics tools throughout the organisation.


What you’ll bring:

You can translate business needs into actionable analytics outputs and products aligned with overall strategy. Requires commercial acumen to understand business impacts of different analytics solutions or approaches.

 

  • High level of self-motivation in new analytics innovation - constantly exploring new, more efficient ways of working (incl. GenAI leadership)

  • Demonstrate propensity to adopt and use AI Tools for business outcomes (instead of always starting from scratch)

  • Experience working with cloud based solutions. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google BigQuery are advantageous. 

  • You are familiar with JIRA and Confluence tools 

  • You are able to estimate the effort required to complete a project and identify the risks and dependencies that may impede delivery 

  • You bring rigour and credibility to analytics tools, you ensure data validation becomes the norm for the squad (hypothesis testing, triangulating against independent data sources etc) 

  • Product mindset to Analytics delivery, ensuring we can re-use effort in the future

  • Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making, effectively communicating complex analytical findings to a non-technical audience
