What you’ll do


The Wiq team within Woolworths Group is responsible for unlocking the power of data to reimagine retail. The WiqInsights team works with different Business Units within Woolworths supermarkets to create products and solutions leveraging the customer transaction data 


Reporting to the Senior Manager - Analytics & Insights, the primary purpose of this role is to understand the problem statements shared by the business, break it down to its analytical components, leverage customer, pricing, store data to create analytics solutions that answer the root cause. This role will assist in transforming data into actionable insights that deliver business value to teams like Brand & Marketing, Commercial strategy, Group Transformation, Woolworths Food Company, Merchandising & Customer Value, etc. The Data Analyst will contribute to utilising existing data assets and supporting the development of new fit-for-purpose solutions by applying analytical skills and a curious mindset.



  • Support the Senior Analytics Manager in transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that drive decision-making within Woolworths Supermarkets.
  • Utilise SQL and Google BigQuery to efficiently extract, manipulate, and analyse data from customer transaction data.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc analytical requests by performing data exploration, identifying trends, and summarising findings to address specific business questions
  • Proactively identify and investigate data patterns, anomalies, and opportunities, communicating findings effectively to the team.



What you’ll bring


We are looking for an individual with inherent curiosity, a passion for learning and problem solving who can collaborate well with teammates and stakeholders to help drive data decision making in Woolworths Supermarkets. 


  • Ideally 3-4 years experience with data analytics & insights.
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL skills
  • Intermediate skills on Excel/Gsheets/GSlides.
  • Basic Python or the willingness to learn is desirable.
  • Problem solving mindset with ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to improvement.
  • Ability to generate insights from complex data while providing meaningful recommendations.
  • Strong communication & presentation skills
  • Experience working within retail is advantageous.
  • Experience in Git and Github for version control is desired.
  • Interest in Generative AI and its applications in data & analytics is encouraged.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
