What you’ll do 

As  AI and Automation Lead you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and embedding AI and automation methodologies across Woolworths Marketplus and the broader W Living portfolio. drives the AI roadmap, builds scalable tool stacks, and leadthe end-to-end implementation of AI projects.


 A core focus is on translating business problems into structured AI solutions that reduce manual work, surface insights, accelerate revenue, and foster trust in our AI products among diverse stakeholders. Champion opportunities for AI and automation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across a broad range of business activities.



  • Skillfully convert ambiguous business challenges into clear, actionable solutions leveraging appropriate AI models, APIs, and automation layers.
  • Collaborate closely with legal, marketing, and compliance teams, ensuring their understanding and trust in our AI products and solutions.
  • Develop repeatable playbooks and best practices to enable the efficient scaling of our AI and automation efforts and build foundational capabilities.
  •  Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging AI trends, discerning what truly matters for our business versus what's merely shiny or nascent.
  • Drive the AI roadmap, build scalable tool stacks, and lead the end-to-end implementation of AI projects.



What you’ll bring 

You can bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, translating technical capabilities into tangible business value. Whilst navigating ambiguous environments and acting as the go-to person for automation challenges. Collaborating effectively with development teams to scope and prioritize builds, combined with a willingness to be hands-on to drive progress.



  • .Grounded understanding of AWS or Google Cloud architecture and integration, demonstrating experience in deploying and managing cloud-based solutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the AI landscape, including LLMs, agents, APIs, vector databases, automation tools, and no-code solutions.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying AI workflows or micro-products, whether in a startup or larger organizational setting.
  • Experience applying software engineering principles to data / AI engineering and analytics workflows.
  • Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines, specifically GitHub.
  • Practical hands-on experience with data science tools including Spark, Python, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and SQL.
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline construction, including Cloud Composer and Airflow DAGs.
  • Familiarity with Docker for containerization and application deployment.
