What you’ll do | Hei mahi

As a Category Manager, you’ll focus on improving and enhancing our customers' perceptions of our value, quality, and range and is responsible for managing all aspects of Product, Price, Promotions, Placement and Own Brand penetration.


You will coach, lead and develop their team as well as deliver targets on sales growth, profitability and market share. In addition, a Category Manager is required to possess the ability to work collaboratively across many different teams within the business.


Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and developing ranges
  • Competitive Price in the market
  • Sourcing products
  • Negotiating with suppliers
  • Developing successful category plans
  • Determining both local and overseas product trends and converting these into sales
  • Ensuring all products meet legal and statutory obligations
  • Designing promotional programs to maximise sales
  • Ensuring the product mix achieves the department's financial objectives
  • Resolve customer and store issues promptly and effectively


What you’ll bring | Hei koha

  • Proven Category Manager or high-performing Assistant Category Manager in a large supermarket/FMCG environment.
  • Success in developing and executing customer-focused Category Plans aligned with divisional strategy and commercial insights.
  • Strong negotiation and influence skills with cross-functional and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to become an industry expert in the field of responsibility within Australia.
  • Passion for product, product development, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to coach and develop a high-performing category team with a customer-centric focus.
