The Opportunity
Due to an internal promotion we have an opportunity to join our FSS team as the Accounting Manager – Leases. you will play a pivotal role in Finance Shared Services by overseeing the financial integrity of a complex lease portfolio on a 12 month secondment. Reporting to the Accounting Controller, you will bridge the gap between technical accounting and business management to ensure compliance with IFRS 16 standards. You will lead a dedicated team, driving process improvements and providing high-level conceptual reasoning to influence strategic change across the organization.
What you'll do
Lead a team of four to five direct reports, manage, delegate and monitor performance effectively and support a high performing team culture
Manage the end-to-end lease accounting process, ensuring strict adherence to IFRS 16 requirements and internal policies.
Execute robust budget and forecasting cycles while overseeing complex transactional processes within the property portfolio.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain confidence in financial reporting and ensure all deadlines are met.
Initiate process improvements by identifying efficiencies and applying "outside of the box" thinking to legacy workflows.
Communicate complicated financial information and conceptual reasoning effectively to influence decision-making and business change.
What you'll bring
CA or CPA qualification with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.
Strong experience in transactional processes, budget & forecasting
Previous experience in managing and supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives
Strong analytical & problem solving skills with a focus on lease accounting information
Highly organised and able to manage multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure deadlines are met
Proven ability to mentor, coach, and maintain a high-performing team culture through effective delegation and empathy.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with the tenacity to follow complex financial issues through to completion.
Understanding of occupancy cost accounting, especially IFRS 16
