What you’ll do | Hei mahi
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced UI Designer to play an instrumental role in crafting digital experiences throughout our customer journey. You'll collaborate closely with senior designers, product managers and engineers to transform complex challenges into intuitive, straightforward solutions.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team working on a large-scale transformation project to redesign and rebuild our digital channels. This is a chance to redefine Woolworths NZ’s digital foundation and contribute to the development of inclusive and thoughtfully designed experiences that will significantly impact millions of customers.
You'll be responsible for:
- Interaction & visual excellence: You’ll craft accessible and responsive interfaces across web and mobile with a keen eye for hierarchy, layout, and visual consistency, as well as refining interaction patterns and visual components based on user feedback and usability standards. You should feel at home using Figma and related tools for component-driven design, variants, auto-layout, and shared libraries.
- Design system contribution: Actively use and contribute to the Woolworths design system by building, refining, and documenting components, patterns, and guidelines. You’ll identify gaps or inconsistencies and collaborate with senior designers to evolve components for scalability and reuse.
- User-centered approach: Champion user needs and accessibility, actively participating in user research and usability testing, and transforming insights into actionable design outcomes
- Product development: Translate business requirements into effective prototypes and polished design solutions for web and mobile platforms. Collaborate with senior designers, product managers, and engineers to iteratively enhance user experiences and contribute to key features.
- Enhancing design workflow: You’ll maintain well-structured design files that support collaboration with engineers and other designers, and propose improvements to design workflows, hand-offs, and documentation to enhance efficiency and design quality
What you’ll bring | Hei koha
- 3+ years experience in product or UX/UI design in an ecommerce or digital environment
- Experience with enterprise level design systems
- Strong experience and confidence with Figma
- Familiarity with responsive and accessible design principles (WCAG 2.2)
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and contributing to both discovery and delivery phases
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- A growth mindset and eagerness to learn from feedback, research, and peers
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong design thinking, craft, and user-centred solutions
