The Opportunity


An opportunity for a 15 month secondment has arisen in the Group Treasury team reporting to our Assistant Treasurer. Based out of our Norwest, Sydney offices with flexible working on offer. 


What you’ll do


  • Development of accurate self-insurance budgets, forecasts and BU allocations, ensuring adequate provisioning and managing financial surprises 
  • Manage the Group’s self-insurance P&L and provisions, including the monthly close process, forecasting, assessment of overs/unders per BU against actuarial requirements and ledger forecasts, working closely with the FSS and BU finance teams, and monthly reporting to the CFO, all-functions Tribe etc
  • Day-to-day management of the quarterly, half-yearly and full year actuarial valuation of the Group’s WC and PL liabilities with the external actuaries, WC third-party claims administrator and internal stakeholders including project management, analysis of data, reporting and presenting of results to various stakeholders 
  • Preparation of the half yearly and annual provision recommendations to the Board and financial reporting requirements, day-to-day management of the half yearly audit process, as well as management of annual WC and PL policy renewals and annual information lodgement with the WC regulators  
  • Contribute to the governance of the Group’s claims management functions across WC and PL by providing and presenting insights on key metrics, portfolio performance and impact on the actuarial valuation
  • Support the management of self-insurance implications of acquisitions and divestments 
  • Contribute to Group Treasury initiatives such as continuous process improvements, administrative tasks on the banking platforms and Treasury systems


What you’ll bring


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or related field
  • Significant experience in workers’ compensation or public liability for an ASX listed company, broker, insurance or actuarial firm, including in relation to outstanding claims liability valuation, provisioning and continuous disclosure obligations would be desirable but not essential.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders and exert influence to deliver on commitments, including senior management, external service providers and business units 
  • Proven experience in leading and supporting decision-making in a complex and rapidly evolving business environment
  • Ability to turn insights into action and drive process efficiencies
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
