With a culture of genuine care, a flexible approach to work and opportunities across the group to grow your career and make a meaningful impact, the possibilities for what we can achieve together are endless.
What you’ll do
The Senior SRE is a high-impact, hands-on engineering role reporting to the Engineering Manager. Based in our Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne hubs (3 days in-office), you are the technical backbone of our cloud operations. We aren't looking for a strategist who just draws diagrams; we need a veteran engineer who can build resilient systems with Terraform, orchestrate AKS at scale, and lead the charge during critical production incidents.
You will own the reliability, performance, and scalability of our Azure platform. This is a role for an engineer who loves to solve complex puzzles and hates manual "toil."
- Hands-on Platform Engineering: Manage and scale our Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters. You'll handle everything from networking and ingress to cluster upgrades and security hardening.
- Infrastructure as Code: Write, test, and maintain production-grade Terraform modules to ensure our infrastructure is fully automated, versioned, and reproducible.
- Deep-Dive Troubleshooting: Act as the "Level 3" escalation point for the most complex system failures. You’ll use Dynatrace to dig into distributed traces, memory leaks, and network bottlenecks to find the root cause.
- Incident Management Lead: Lead the response for high-priority incidents. You’ll keep a cool head under pressure, coordinate the technical recovery, and ensure we learn from every outage through deep-dive post-mortems.
- Observability Mastery: Implement and fine-tune monitoring, logging, and alerting using Dynatrace to ensure we have "glass-box" visibility into every microservice.
- Operational Excellence: Identify manual processes and replace them with automated tooling (Python, Bash, or Go) to improve the developer experience and system stability.
What You’ll Bring
You'll have spent 8–10+ years in the trenches of cloud-native environments and possess the "SRE mindset."
- Kubernetes Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with AKS/K8s. You should be comfortable debugging pods, nodes, and networking layers. CKA or CKAD certification is a must.
- Azure Heavyweight: Extensive experience navigating the Azure ecosystem (Networking, IAM, Storage, and Security).
- Terraform Specialist: Proven ability to manage complex, multi-environment infrastructure through Terraform.
- APM/Observability Pro: Advanced skills in Dynatrace (or similar tools like Datadog/New Relic) for proactive performance tuning and incident forensics.
- Incident Command Experience: A track record of leading major incident responses and managing stakeholder communication during "War Room" scenarios.
- Coding Proficiency: Strong scripting/coding skills (Python, Go, or Bash) to build internal tools and automate infrastructure tasks.
- Mentorship through Doing: You enjoy upskilling other engineers by pair-programming and leading by example in the codebase.
