What you’ll do

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and building the foundational cloud platforms that power our critical digital services. You will bridge the gap between software engineering and cloud operations, using your deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and modern DevOps principles to create scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure. Your primary focus will be acting as an GCP SME, building robust CI/CD pipelines, championing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and enabling our product teams to rapidly deliver and run containerised microservices on platforms like Cloud Run and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). You will be instrumental in shaping our serverless-first cloud strategy and establishing best practices to ensure our technology environment is efficient, automated, and aligned with our business objectives.

• Designing, building, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud infrastructure patterns on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Infrastructure as Code.

• Guiding the DevOps foundations, including CI/CD pipelines, to support our microservices architecture.

• Collaborating with development teams to establish best practices for building, deploying, and operating cloud-native applications on serverless platforms like Cloud Run.

• Automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and repetitive operational tasks to enhance efficiency and reliability.

• Implementing and managing observability and monitoring tools to provide deep visibility into system health and performance.

• Championing a culture of automation and continuous improvement across all engineering teams.

What you’ll bring

We're looking for a passionate engineer with a minimum of 5 years experience and a strong foundation in cloud infrastructure, automation, and modern software development practices.

• Proven, hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Deep expertise in building DevOps foundations and automated CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Google Cloud Build, or similar.

• Strong practical experience with microservices architectures, including containerisation (Docker) and serverless compute platforms (Cloud Run, GKE).

• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.

• Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g. Python, Bash, etc).

• Ability to debug complex systems, optimise code, and influence engineering teams to adopt DevOps best practices.

• Experience with a subset of technologies in our stack is highly desirable:

  • Cloud: Google Cloud Platform.

  • Code: Knowledge in Go, NodeJS, Python is a huge bonus.

  • Databases: Cloud SQL, Firestore, NoSQL (MongoDB).

  • Observability: Google Cloud's operations suite (Cloud Monitoring and Logging), Dynatrace, Prometheus, PagerDuty.
