The Opportunity

The Pricing & Customer Value team business partners within the Buying division of Supermarkets, Woolworths Food Company, Finance, IT & Strategy teams. As a team, we support the optimisation of pricing opportunities for the Woolworths Supermarkets division with a strong focus on building continued price trust with our customers and maintaining Woolworths’ competitiveness in the market.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Senior Promotions Analyst to shape and execute pricing strategies that drive growth, enhance customer value and price perception, and strengthen our market position. In this role, you will combine advanced analytics with strategic thinking to deliver actionable insights, influence decision-making, and achieve measurable results across the business.


You’ll work closely with a supportive team and partner with stakeholders to share insights, co-create solutions, and deliver impactful outcomes. You’ll bring fresh ideas and challenge the status quo to uncover new growth opportunities.


More specifically

  • Gather and analyze complex data to frame business problems, developing actionable insights and recommendations to support the Pricing & Customer Value team's mandate.

  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify strategic opportunities and risks.

  • Evaluate the performance and impact of promotions, providing data-driven recommendations to enhance outcomes.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Commercial team, applying analytical rigor and innovative thinking to proactively identify and solve business challenges.

  • Collaborate with teams across the Woolworths Group (including Commercial, GroupStrategy, Marketing, and CustomerX) to ensure promotional strategies align with broader business goals.

  • Scope, develop, and maintain various analytical solutions for the business, including models, reports, and interactive dashboards.

  • Mentor, support, and guide junior analysts, sharing best practices to build pricing capability within the team.

  • Contribute to the team's knowledge environment by training team members and business partners on new concepts and solutions.

  • Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements to processes, data quality, and analytical capabilities.



What you’ll Bring

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a data analytics role, managing large datasets and developing complex analysis.

  • Demonstrated expertise in using advanced SQL to extract, transform, and aggregate data from multiple large-scale data sources to support analysis.

  • Strong database management experience, ideally using a system such as Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Tableau, Dataprep).

  • Advanced in MS Excel (including modeling)/Google Sheets and MS PowerPoint/Google Slides.

  • A proven track record of translating complex data into clear, actionable insights, recommendations, and meaningful commercial outcomes.

  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills to engage and influence stakeholders.

  • Deep commercial understanding of the relationship between pricing, sales, and profitability.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to think creatively and challenge norms.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
