What you’ll do

You'll join our Fruit & Veg team as a Quality Control Officer. This role is responsible for leading all quality assurance activities at our Sydney Regional Distribution Centre which services over 200 NSW stores. Reporting to the Senior Quality Control Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with the Distribution Centre, Buying and store teams. Our aim is to bring to life the values of the Fresh Food People, by continually improving the quality of fruit and vegetables for stores and customers.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor and assess Fruit & Vegetable lines delivered to the distribution center (DC).
  • Validate compliance with product quality and labeling specifications set by the Woolworths quality assurance team and Government Legislation.
  • Manage the Banana and Avocado ripening process to achieve optimal quality and color for stores and customers.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Buying Team to ensure the best quality offering for store operations and enhanced customer experience.
  • Report to the Senior Quality Control Officer and work with buying teams to deliver safe, quality products in line with Woolworth's specifications and company KPIs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and drive productivity.
  • Foster an environment focused on delivering a great team experience.
  • Assist the Fruit and Vegetable leadership team with key metrics and Ways of Working, providing valuable and constructive feedback for recognition and development opportunities.

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Comfortable with computer systems ( Google Apps and Microsoft Excel ) and eager to learn
  • A genuine passion for the world of retailing and fresh produce
  • Agronomy / Agriculture knowledge
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting while staying cool under pressure
