What you’ll do
The Group Data Management (GDM) team forms a central function tasked with implementing robust data management across the Woolworths Group. This role is highly visible and you will be influential in the transformation of how Woolworths designs, and implements data quality methodology and tooling to drive value from data.
Reporting to our Group Data Management Lead, you will be part of a small team looking to meet our Group Data Management ambitions by supporting the implementation of our data management framework and controls across the Woolworths business units.
In this role, you will work with multiple business groups, by building and maintaining strong relationships. You will use your ability to support a diverse set of stakeholder groups to effectively manage their data management requirements, and contribute to our goal of safe and trusted data.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable digging into complex processes and data related challenges, bringing together multiple stakeholders and diverse viewpoints, documenting our data risks, and controls.
- Support the business in their understanding of data risk, statutory and management reporting requirements specific to data risk management.
- Prepare and deliver reviews to the management team regarding emerging risks, status of risk assessments, and control performance.
- Apply the group data management and governance framework within a specific business unit.
- Perform active data stewardship through engaging with business and technical teams to ensure data is well-documented, understood and continues to drive value.
- Organise and conduct workshops to track, help resolve issues impacting business and technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate and implement enhancements to the documentation of data risk and control environment.
- Support internal audit engagements and remediation, ensuring timely response and delivery.
- Develop data strategy and policy documents to support operational execution of data management programs.
- Continue to build and develop Woolworths Group data standards, policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and communicate Information Technology (IT) and data policy, standards, best practices, guidance and procedures.
- Assist in designing, implementing and maintaining an overall data risk management process, and effective measurements and controls.
- Identify gaps and conflicts in data management policy and governance guidance and make recommendations to address these areas.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for an analytical, delivery-orientated Data Management professional who is able to work with stakeholders and leaders across the group to effectively identify and implement data management/governance solutions in support of a stream of work delivering advanced analytics capabilities.
- A Bachelors Degree in Technology, Data Management, Risk or a similar field
- Approximately 8+ years working in data management or data risk or similar field
- Proven track record working in data management and policy related roles
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) policies
- Experience working with data governance tools including Collibra and Attacama is beneficial but not essential
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining best practice process and data solutions
- Strong capability in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships
- Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to adapt communication styles to suit different audiences
- An ability to communicate complex information in a simple and consumable way
- Excellent written and briefing skills to appropriately communicate data management strategies and policies to leadership and individual managers
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle and prioritise multiple tasks and projects concurrently
